Apple Picking

This weekend we ventured out to Oak Glen to go apple picking! Our friend Erika has been dying to go and finally convinced everyone to go with her.  It was a really cute farm complete with many types of apples, raspberries, blackberries, knife throwing, archery, and cider making.  It was a very warm day, but we managed to pick a bunch of yummy apples that later made a delicious apple crisp.

Labor Day Weekend

We had quite the long weekend. From what started out as no plans, quickly became full of fun activities.

Saturday we went to Huntington Beach with my friend Elisabeth who was visiting from Missouri! It was so fun seeing a friend from home out here.

So of course we sat on the beach and got caught up.

On Sunday, we went to a baby blessing for Jeff's cousin in Menifee, but after we got home and tried to leave again we found this:
Flat tire! Boooo.
But it gets worse.
Our spare was flat too..
So our Labor Day weekend became very expensive as we had to purchase 2 new tires for Jeff's car.

Monday was better after the tire purchase because we went to Laguna Beach with the Nelsons to explore the real OC.  We went on a 4 mile hike in the hills of Laguna, had lunch at Johnny Rockets, and then hung out at the beach.  The hike was hot, the beach was crowded, and the water was full of seaweed.  Needless to say, we still had a blast playing boche and hanging out with Drew and Erika.  Did I mention this was the 3rd day of the weekend that we hung out with them? The other days were full of food, movies, and games, unfortunately they went undocumented.  See Erika's blog for more pictures: here

Escape from the smog!

I nearly drown from all the seaweed in the water! Yuck!

Bring on the week.

Newport Beach Week

The Johnson clan took a family vacation to Newport Beach in August.  Since Jeff can't miss school, his family came to us! They rented a house on the sand complete with a pool table.  We spent countless hours in the water, playing bocce ball & smash ball, and playing games as a family.  Poor Jeff had to drive back and forth for school, but he still got a lot of quality time with the family before Blake and Brady leave on their missions in October.  Let the pictures speak for themselves.

Angels vs Mariners

As everyone knows, Jeff loves the Mariners.  We try to see them play every summer, but it is hard for us to get there on a weekday.  Luckily, they happened to be playing the Angels on "Mormon Night" and it was a Friday so they have fireworks! Triple bonus! We gathered some dental school friends and headed to the game.  Unfortunately for Jeff, they lost the game on a wild pitch in the 9th inning. But we had fun with friends and managed to find super cheap seats.
The group. Except you can only see Jeff's legs. He missed the picture memo.

Sorry Dad and Dave...

The Boys.

Tons of fireworks!

Basketball Champs

FINALLY! Jeff has been dying to get a t-shirt from winning an intramural championship, and it finally happened Monday!  I swear his teams have come so close every quarter in all different sports.  Unfortunately, the t-shirts were back ordered so we don't have a picture with the actual shirts, but they are coming soon! Yay for Jeff. I am so proud of this stud.
Going for the drive. (Jeff is #11)

For a 3!

What a good wife to keep score and stats!

Sweaty boys. And this was one of the closest games.

Since they shirts weren't there, they made them take a picture in their jerseys.

Crystal Cove

This weekend was the Youth Beach Trip to Crystal Cove since it was the last weekend before school starts for the kids.  I didn't take very many pictures, but it turned out to be a very beautiful day.

Sandblasted hair.
One of the boys was trying to catch a pelican with cheetos.  It almost worked.

Goodbye Swindles

This week was very sad because we said goodbye to our good friends the Swindles.  Luckily, we were able to throw them a surprise going away party last week with a few other couples full of inside jokes and innuendos.  We also got to play one last game of Ticket to Ride during the week, where Jeff destroyed us all, and we hit up market night in Redlands for their "last supper".  Jeff and Andrew got to experience real-life tetris fitting all of their stuff into a POD before they hit the road.  Hopefully we will get to see them in the near future up in Utah!  They will definitely be missed!
This is my favorite picture to remember the couple.  Please don't hate me for posting this :)

Yummy treats.

We wanted to do a fishing game because Andrew loves to fish, but we didn't have a fishing pole, so Drew made one with his golf club? It didn't work, but was funny!

Packing up. :(

Winner of our last game of Ticket to Ride.

We will miss them, but wish them the best in school in work!
